Holy shit, the brush work is pretty mesmerizing! There's a nice cut from light to dark in the right side that makes the texture of the brush pop out even more, solid work!

whosadaman responds:

thank you!

This is great, the shadows really make the purples pop and the outline does for the character overall; nothing ever gets lost in the dominant colors and it feels really fun. I think 7/10 times I’m like fuck Big, but this has a special place and Bird really rocks the costume well. Also is that a Froggy silhouette in the corner??

cashumeru responds:

Thanks ivan, i always love reading ur feedback! yeah i wanted to try and keep a color theme this time around since i kinda go all out alot, but im glad it didn't get too overwhelming. im glad you like her fits, the frog is that 'touch me' FF7 enemy lmao but it was gonna be froggy, Big got killed here just for you

Gorgeous work!! Such a great color scheme of strong greens/reds throughout and utterly eerie design work for it, this is such a stellar conglomerate of NG characters and it all looks so great in your style! Killer job dude

MisMash responds:

It was definitely a challenge considering each character has a unique color scheme, so blending them all together was a fun puzzle :D
Also, I snuck a Butterfinger with one of the Nightmare Cops for you Ivan lol.

Damn, with your color choices this lineless style works exceptionally well! This and the Greenery Zone piece have really gorgeous palettes that pop out against each other, I'd be super down for a shirt/sticker/poster in these styles

mogy64 responds:

thanks! its really fun to work without lines, makes you put a lot of focus on colors while also limiting your selection due to values and whatnot. its a very nice change of pace from the usual!

Maaaan I'm rootin for this piece, her walk cycle is really solid and there's some very impressive overlapping action going on; and not just the breasts, the hair and cloth are both really well timed! Even the volume on the legs as they move back and forth really demonstrate a nice handle on 3D shapes, bang up job on this animation!

moikaloop responds:

Thank you Ivan! I learned a lot from doing this loop.

Woah i havent seen a lot of tan bowsette's but this is in my top spot, the shading on the skin looks excellent and you captured a really nice attitude in her expression! The mixture of character elements, hair especially, make this feel like a real proper female bowser, great work dude!

MLeth responds:

Aw thanks a lot, Ivan, my man! <3

For criticism:

I think the body proportions are way off, particularly with the hands/forearm/head sizes and lengths to degrees of glaring awkwardness; you don't need to hit 1-1 accuracy or realism but basic construction/anatomy would ground the style in a more appealing manner.

As for the animation, the most glaring and un-needed thing is the smear/blur frame between the poses, for such a small action it over exaggerates the motion. The right arm suffers form a lack of easing and a lot of even spacing between the drawings throughout its actions, other parts of the body have these flaws but that area most of all. It's not perfect but the overlapping action of the hair isn't bad, so props where props are due, but that brings up another really glaring flaw in the piece; the boobs.

These titties are being pulled by some gravitational field man, the hierarchy of motion would not dictate a movement that rapid/excessive, try to think about the weight of the masses and how the proper forces of the body would make them swing. Also try to reduce the distance of the jiggle after each bounce as they go into resting position, you could check out some porn for natural breast physics or even look at the artist Manyakis who has fairly nice weight to his beefers.

I do dig the design and the atmosphere in the piece and I can see what you're aiming for with it, so I look forward to seeing you grow and improve over time!

immaboreddude responds:

Thanks for the criticism, This is my first time animating something like this or animating in general, so I have less than the basic knowledge of animation, but you actually changed my mindset.

I've never thought about motion in animation like that.
I didn't thought about the weight, timing, or the force that triggered the movement in the first place; The blur effect I added was exactly for that, exaggerate the motion to justify for the excessive bouncing of her melons but in the process the animation lost quality. I know the proportions are way off, I just wanted to test the actual motion, get used to the program and see if I can make a decent animation.
I think I should have started with a bouncing ball or something like that, but in the end It was a good experiment, I learned a lot, and thanks to your comment even more.

motherfuckin, hook up with a programmer and MAKE THIS A REALITY!!! These sprites look like so much fun, really nice energy in all his actions and a cute design. It's gonna kill me if this doesn't see the light of day

wellie responds:

thanks for the kind words man! ill try get a mock up going to see if anyone might be interested in helpin me out

I was gonna remark about how spot on the digital texture was on the drawing, but your process revealed what it was exactly; that's a solid way of going about it honestly. You retain a lot of the rough texture of the lines and canvas with a controlled palette of calm blues and yellows, very nice!

Ellavela responds:

Fun fact: I was going to trace the lineart digitally but gave up after not being able to find the right brush. I guess it was meant to be :P

Thank you!

I live in a shack, I poop in an outhouse, I eat what I kill.
